12,000 m² of Hycrete polyurethane cement with a Solar gloss topcoat across a food production facility in Victoria, laid for a design life of more than 20 years.

Every item of food produced in Australia has to be produced on a hygienic floor. At Arnott's and Good Food Partners in Victoria, one of Australia's largest food production facilities, that floor is 12,000 m² of Hychem Hycrete.

  • 12,000 m²of food preparation floor
  • 20+ yearsdesign life in daily production
  • 100%UV-stable Solar topcoat
  • 2023completed

The brief

Food preparation areas across 12,000 square metres of a fast-paced production plant. The floor had to stay hygienic and slip resistant under constant traffic and cleaning, and keep doing it for decades.

The system

Hycrete, which combines the strength of polyurethane cement technology with a UV-stable, high-gloss finish. The Hycrete Solar topcoat gives the floor its gloss, and aluminium oxide broadcast into the wet coat gives it slip resistance.

The Hycrete Solar topcoat is 100% UV stable, and when used together with the extremely hard-wearing aluminium oxide as the slip-resistance aggregate, this floor will last over 20 years in a fast-paced food production environment.

Why it matters

A high-gloss finish makes cleaning much simpler than a lower-sheen floor, and in a food plant that saving comes every shift, for the life of the floor. Hycrete is manufactured by Hychem in Sydney, so one system and one supplier cover the whole production floor.
