School and university flooring

Schools and universities need hard-wearing, low-odour floors that can go down in the holidays. Hychem's water-based epoxies — WE90 coatings and the WE500 self-smoothing topping — have very low VOC emissions, and WE70 and WE90 are compliant with Green Star Interiors VOC limits.

FAQs about school and university flooring

Which Hychem floor is listed for schools?

Hy-Flake and Hy-Flake Premium: seamless decorative epoxy flake floors. Hy-Flake is a medium-duty epoxy topping, 100% solids at 500–2,000 microns, hard wearing in punishing environments and with good colour stability; Hy-Flake Premium is the APAS-certified flake system.

Is a flake floor slip resistant enough for a school?

Hy-Flake meets AS 4586 and reaches R10 to R13 with selected anti-slip additives, so the texture can be set for each area — entries, corridors, wet areas. Tell us the rooms and we specify the finish for each.

Can it be laid near classrooms that are in use?

Hy-Flake is solventless, non-flammable and odourless — its sheet notes it can be used in retail situations without disturbing neighbouring businesses. We agree the programme with the school before work starts.
